Passion and Duality by Loran Thrasher is an enigmatic display of the harmony and contrast of two natural phenomena. This body of work represents his latest exploration of shape and color, line and void, to date. His work often creates feelings of joy and curiosity. These 3d compositons layer meaning with geometry and texture to evoke a deeper connection to the mysteries of our natural world. In essence, Passion and Duality presents itself as a Spiritual Aesthetic.
Description of Exhibition
Duality exists all around us. It is defined as the quality or condition of being dual or
as an instance of opposition or contrast between two concepts or two aspects of
something. This is self-evident in aspects of nature such as night and day, cold vs hot, life
or death, black or white, male vs. Female. We hear of a time when the Universe was
chaotic and then became formed. Chaos was an element of creation. As consciousness
evolved, accepting these concepts of duality rendered us sane to others, as we find our
respective places in the natural world.
Then, there is Passion. Passion is also a natural force. Passion is neither chaotic nor
formative. Passion is not merely hot or cold. Passion confronts Duality at its most
fundamental aspect; it’s reason. The unfolding of why there is duality is nature’s response
to its own duality. Thus, there is Passion. It is the irrational reason why duality is not locked
into an eternal loop of itself. Passion lies at the intersection of what is calculable and what
is yet to be.
Art has always thrived on Passion for its most potent nourishment. Inspiration must
find you working, and it is Passion that sits you down in your work long before any reward
shows up. Passion can save, burn into your psyche moments that would otherwise float
out of memory. Passion can save a soul, even a nation of souls from the automaton version
of humanity that this current world will make of us. All that Passion requires is a target.
The unfolding of Duality is the blessing of Passion. To look for it is to be fulfilled.
Love what you do, and you will be successful. Passion lies not just in the open as loud or
proud. It lives and thrives where most concepts of Duality hit a crossroads or a dead end.
This body of work is dedicated to finding all cervices, nooks and crannies, deep pockets of
hidden suffrage or joy, all for the sole purpose of fulfilling an eternal soul. For my part, I
hope I never run out of places to look.
