Visit the Mesquite Arts Center’s Main Gallery for Stadtträume: A Graffiti Story from Germany, a featured exhibition by artist Ray Albernez exploring graffiti as an art form, a cultural movement, and a reflection of urban life. Inspired by an international graffiti residency in northwestern Germany, Albernez brings together artwork created in Dinslaken, Essen, Düsseldorf, and Gladbeck, offering visitors a glimpse into the communities, environments, and experiences that shape graffiti culture.
Through immersive installations and a diverse collection of works, the exhibition explores graffiti’s evolution from rebellious street expression to a recognized, yet often controversial, art form. Visitors are invited to reconsider the relationship between art and public space while discovering how graffiti transforms urban landscapes into expressions of creativity, identity, and community.
Stadtträume will be on display in the Main Gallery January 19–March 20, 2027, and will be featured throughout Winter GLOW Fest 2027, offering residents and visitors an opportunity to experience contemporary art as part of the seasonal celebration.
