What can I expect during an eclipse?For those in the path of totality during a total solar eclipse, the sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. Bright stars or planets may shine in the dark sky and air temperatures will suddenly drop as the sun disappears. The sudden darkness causes animals to grow quiet and the sun's atmosphere may glow in a thin pink circle around the moon during the peak of totality. As the moon continues to pass across the sun, the sky will appear similar to a 360-degree sunrise and the temperatures will climb again as the sun begins to shine.
