The Mesquite Arts Center presents Organic Reflections, an exhibition by Arrionne Hobbs, an SMU graduate student, exploring the relationship between the human figure, the natural environment, and the spiritual dimensions of human experience. Through evocative landscapes, dramatic atmospheric conditions, and figures viewed from behind, Hobbs examines themes of mortality, transformation, vulnerability, hope, and personal revelation. The paintings place the human figure and landscape on equal emotional footing, transforming nature from a passive backdrop into an active participant in each scene. Light, shadow, weather, and atmospheric shifts reflect emotional and spiritual movement, creating spaces for contemplation, uncertainty, transition, and discovery. The title Organic Reflections speaks to the reciprocal relationship between people and the natural world, where the environment mirrors the emotional condition of the figure and invites viewers to project their own experiences, memories, and interpretations onto the landscape.
Organic Reflections will be on display in the Chamber Gallery January 19–March 20, 2027, and during Winter GLOW Fest 2027, offering residents and visitors an opportunity to experience the work of an emerging artist while celebrating creativity and the arts in Mesquite.
